Supervisor / Crew Leader

About the Role

Framing Supervisors / Crew Leaders manage residential framing projects and lead a team of framers and labourers. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with strong carpentry skills, organizational ability, and the drive to keep projects on schedule and up to standard.


Responsibilities

  • Lead framing crews on residential construction projects 
  • Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications 
  • Organize daily tasks, assign responsibilities, and oversee job site productivity 
  • Ensure framing work meets quality standards and building codes
  • Train, mentor, and supervise framers and labourers 
  • Communicate with management and other trades on scheduling and progress 
  • Maintain a safe and efficient work environment 
  • Track materials, tools, and equipment use on site
  • Drive and take responsibility for a company vehicle including transporting the crew to job sites when applicable
     

Requirements

  • 5+ years of framing/carpentry experience (residential required) 
  • Previous crew lead or supervisory experience preferred 
  • Strong knowledge of framing methods, tools, and building codes 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately 
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills 
  • Physically fit and able to work outdoors year-round 
  • Valid Manitoba Class 3 Driver’s License and reliable transportation 
  • For job sites within 30 minutes of Steinbach, crew leaders drive themselves; for sites beyond 30 minutes, the crew travels together in the company vehicle

Experienced Framer

About the Role

Experienced Framers take pride in quality work, have strong carpentry skills, and enjoy being part of a reliable team.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and assist in framing houses from start to finish (walls, floors, roofs, etc.) 
  • Read and follow blueprints and construction plans 
  • Measure, cut, and assemble lumber and materials with accuracy 
  • Train and guide labourers and apprentices on the crew 
  • Maintain a safe and organized job site 
  • Operate and care for tools and equipment properly
     

Requirements

  • Minimum 2–3 years of framing/carpentry experience (residential preferred) 
  • Strong knowledge of framing methods, materials, and tools
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings 
  • Physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions
  • Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable transportation
  • For job sites within 30 minutes of Steinbach, framers drive themselves; for sites beyond 30 minutes, the crew travels together in a company vehicle

Framing Labourer

About the Role

Framing Labourers are hardworking and dependable. This role involves assisting skilled framers in building the structural framework for new homes. The position is physically demanding, outdoors in all weather conditions, and requires travel to various job sites.


Responsibilities

  • Assist framers with measuring, cutting, and assembling lumber and materials
  • Load, carry, and organize tools, equipment, and supplies on site
  • Operate basic hand and power tools safely
  • Support the construction of walls, floors, roofs, and other framing components
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Follow all company and site safety policies
  • Perform other general labour tasks as needed to support the crew
     

Qualifications

  • Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable personal transportation
  • For job sites within 30 minutes of Steinbach, workers are expected to drive themselves
  • For sites beyond 30 minutes, the crew travels together in a company vehicle
  • Physically fit and able to lift 50+ lbs regularly
  • Ability to work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and willingness to learn framing skills
  • Previous framing or carpentry experience is an asset
